House
Call Name: House
Show Name: n/a
Gender: tom
Birth Date: August 20th, 2000
Altered: yes
Breed: moggie
Eye Color: yellow
Markings: red self. limps on right hind leg
History: House was born on the streets, a fighting Memphis tomcat, and lived his first five years siring kittens and raiding dustbins. But, in 2005 he was hit by a car and later found by a passerby and taken to the SPCA. His right hind leg was badly broken, and he had to undergo several surguires to place plates and pins, and he was in a cast for several long months.
It was only a few days after his first surgery when he was laying in his cage recovering that James Rauling happened to come in to check on a cocker spaniel whom the rescue group was following. James had recently lost his only cat, and he said a few kind words to House before leaving.
The shelter had barely opened the next day when James was back in there asking to take House home to foster, then adopt. The shelter agreed since they knew him and House found himself going home with James a few days later.
Originally James named him Hillbilly Cat, but after he had healed and was left with a limp, James renamed him House after the doctor on the television series by the same name.
Though House is kind to James, he doesn't really care for anyone or anything else (aside from food), and takes after his namesake in the grouchy department, though after a time he'd reached either a truce or a stalemate with everyone in his day to day life, and everyone just let him alone to be grouchy.
Just two years ago, Mike brought James a kitten named Pudding. House was outraged and hated Pudder, as James called her, at first. After a time thought he settled into a routine with her, though she still sometimes goes out of her way to bother him when he's at his grouchiest. The truth is he doesn't really mind her or anyone else, he just is grumpy about going from a street-wise tom cat to a limpy house pet, and feels the need to force this displeasure on everyone else. Plus, his leg hurts.
Personality: grouchy, grumpy, cantankerous, nice to James and his food bowl.

Thirteen
Call Name: Thirteen
Show Name: n/a
Gender: tom
Birth Date: October 13, 2003
Altered: yes
Breed: moggie
Eye Color: yellow
Markings: black self
History: Thirteen was bought by a grandmother for her granddaughter when her granddaughter came to visit. The grandmother didn't exactly care for cats -- or any animal for that matter -- but her granddaughter had been wanting a kitty and her mother was allergic. Thirteen was well cared for through his kitten years and he loved sleeping on the granddaughter's bed. He was let outside to romp around when he felt like it, but he never roamed far.
Then, as kids often do, the granddaughter lost interest in him after he stopped being a cute little kitten. The grandmother did not want the cat at all, and the granddaughter's lost interest just fueled her negative feelings toward Thirteen. She took to shutting him outside unless her granddaughter was visiting. But soon even the granddaughter stopped paying attention to him, the cat whom she had previously greeted with exuberance and love now earned barely a glance from her. Thirteen knew when he wasn't wanted, as most cats do, and wandered out of the yard one day and never came back.
He spent the next three years creating a kingdom for himself out of the neighborhoods. Wherever he roamed he owned; the trees, the sidewalks, the walls, all were his own to walk on. He took it upon himself to investigate every goings-on in the area. For a while he kept tabs on his old home, but after a while he couldn't pick it out from all the others any more. He was satisfied with this life he'd made for himself, that is until he met Sky.
She turned the world on its ear for him, and slowly he came to love her. Though he is known by Jack and Reasa, he won't get close enough to them to let them pet him, afraid of the same rejection happening despite Sky's assurances otherwise. He knows he can creep through the cat door into the house after Sky, but refuses to do so unless the weather is incredibly foul and Jack and Reasa are gone. Maybe one day he'll learn to trust them like he does Sky, but until then he's still the king of the neighborhood.
Personality: proud, curious, friendly, leery of humans, sinuously graceful

Corvid
Call Name: Corvid
Show Name: n/a
Gender: queen
Birth Date: September 2005
Altered: no
Breed: moggie
Eye Color: yellow-green
Markings: Brown tortoiseshell tabby with white (bi-color)
History: Born to Aedan and Soft Tread, Corvid grew up in the North Woods of Central Park in New York City. There was so much to see and do in New York City! When she was six months old, since she was a queen, her mother didn't force her out. So long as she accepted her mother's rule and would be part of the pride, she could stay. Corvid did stay, though not in one place. She began to wander, and by the age of eight months she had figured out how to steal pretzels and hot dogs off of not only the people in the park who bought them, but the vendors themselves. That's not to say she wasn't good at hunting -- she was, as good as her mother if not better. She didn't think she should eat pigeon when she could eat a hot dog, so she preferred the stealing.
At about a year of age, the park wasn't enough for her, so she started wandering the streets. She always came back, though she'd scare her mother to death in the mean time. She ended up adopting humans, having up to seven homes she'd frequent at a time, just to get extra food as most of her hunting and stealing she gave to her mother's friend and pride-sister Joquin, who was not good at hunting or stealing. Her policy was that once they put a collar on her, she would never go back. With Joquin's help, she has become an expert at removing collars over the years.
One day when she visited one of her adoptees, the family did not let her back outside even when she cried and scratched. She soon understood when they slapped a collar and nametag on her -- Mittens, it said, how embarrassing! -- and started boxing their things up that they were moving. Just her luck! She tried slipping between their legs when they were going in and out, but no such luck. Soon she was spirited away with them so far away to a small town in Georgia. Once they let her out of their new house, she was gone and didn't come back. After all, they did put a collar on her.
Personality: smart, curious, problem-solver, active, social, foot-loose and fancy-free, love them and leave them kind of gal

Boustabak
Call Name: Boustabak
Show Name: none
Gender: queen
Birth Date: April 2007
Altered: no
Breed: Himalayan Persian x Moggie
Eye Color: deep blue
Markings: Black with white (Bi-colour). All four legs are white up to elbows/knees, belly and chest are white, white on front of neck carrying to whiskerpads and cheeks, forming a blaze up between eyes. Her chin is black.
History: Born to a black and white street cat, the descendant of an un-neutered Himalayan Persian, in a small town on the coast of Washington, Boustabak was originally named Splash. As most feral cats, she lived her life on the streets, hunting and dumpster diving as all of them do. But she always, always felt she was meant for more. One day when she was about a year old, after having a strange dream that someone was looking for her, she crossed the path of a man. This is something that she did regularly, but the man stopped and she felt the need to look at him to see what the matter was. It was then that she felt a desire to be with this man. He felt it too, and reached down to pick her up and take her home with him.
He gave her the collar with a carved wooden Blackfoot Indian raven charm, and named her Boustabak -- Haitian Creole for raven. He told her of where he'd been, and she would over-see him while he did his voodoo work. After a while they moved to Georgia, because Johnny really liked it there when he'd been in the past. They spend their lives together reading books and working spells and just enjoying each other's company. Bousta hunts for him often because he exclaims how wonderful she is and praises her every time she brings him a dead mouse. She has grown to love him, and care about him just as much.
Personality: Capricious, flighty, over-reacts to things on purpose, calculating, crafty, mischievous. She doesn't just believe in voodoo, she thinks of herself of a totem/familiar to her owner Johnny.

Sleuth
Call Name: Sleuth
Show Name: n/a
Gender: queen
Birth Date: March 7th 2010
Altered: yes
Breed: Persian mix
Eye Color: orange (copper)
Markings: Silver Spotted Tabby. (AaBBCCDDIITtLl)
History: After being catnapped from the Laughing Cocker Inn, Cosette was held in an old toolshed on the thief's property while he attempted to sell her. But before he could, Bones and Merlin stumbled upon her and freed her by prying out a loose board.
Terrified to be seen by Rebecca, despite Bones's assurances, the two toms snuck Cosette through the porch's cat door in the night so she could eat their food and sleep. Bones, knowing Rebecca's schedule, would wake Cosette so she could hide before Becca came through.
But Bones could not stay anti-social forever, and eventually had to accompany Becca to the Lucky Pug Cafe or risk being taken to the vet to see if something was wrong with him. Cosette found herself alone with Merlin, in her first heat. One thing led to another and sixty three days later in the middle of the night she found herself giving birth.
But the hardship she'd gone through had taken it's toll, and being a young mother, and an inexperienced purebred cat did not help matters. Terrified and lacking the instincts of a regular cat, she sought comfort from Bones, who curled around her all through the night attempting to help her through something that he knew hardly anything about.
But by morning only one kitten was alive, and Cosette was weak. Despite Bones's protests, she decided to leave to try to find her way back to Mike, leaving her surviving kitten in Bones' capable paws.
When Becca came out later to find Bones curled with the kitten, she immediately went into action, taking it to the vet and getting formula and supplies. She named the kitten Sleuth spur of the moment, terrified that she wouldn't make it, and not wanting her to die without some name. She needed around the clock care, and Becca was waking up every two hours to feed her all night, and had to take her to work at the Cafe with her. But she could not take her to class with her, and so left her in the capable hands of Anthony Mendes while she was there.
Bones cared for her nonstop, as if he was himself her mother. When she grows up, she will come to think of him as such, though Bones will tell her explicitly that her mother was a Persian named Cosette, and her father is indeed Merlin (as if the resemblance wasn't enough to indicate that).
She will osmosis some of his personality traits, and become adept at scavenger hunting herself. And after all that Becca went through with Sleuth, she will have to keep her in her house and her heart.
Personality: Curious, inquisitive, wants to know everyone's business, fearless, confident

Bones
Call Name: Bones
Show Name: n/a
Gender: tom
Birth Date: October 31, 2003
Altered: no (but does not have as much testosterone as he should, so his instincts in that area are questionable)
Breed: moggie
Eye Color: yellow
Markings: black with white bi-color. All black with four white paws up to wrist/hock, white tummy and chest, white chin and whiskerpads continuing onto cheeks, and a white blaze shaped like an inverted v on his nose.
History: Bones and his siblings were born to a black queen under an abandoned house in Mushroom Grove. Their mother was an odd, nervous one who didn't give any of them names, so they started calling each other names, though none of them seemed to stick with Bones, so he went by nothing.
When he was about three months old, and the kittens had started to go their separate ways, Bones saw something that would stick with him for the rest of his life. He saw his mother going up to a house across the street and mewling at the door. A man came out and kicked her, hard. His mother wouldn't say a thing about it when he asked her, and soon disappeared all together after that. Even in his wanderings later in life, he never saw hide nor hair of her.
Soon after his mom disappeared he went on his own way. He was always a loner, and he never went by any name. After a few years of doing things Tomcats do, he decided he would adopt a human.
He wandered about the neighborhood, watching and waiting. He wanted a human who didn't have a cat or dog yet, one he could call his own. While he waited he would busy himself by collecting little things which caught his interest. Bones's favourite things were the bones that pet cats would leave lying around.
One day he saw a woman come out of a house in which he had noted no animals stayed. When he saw her she looked so lonely that he knew he had to adopt her. So he set about doing that. That day he waited on her front porch for her to come home, and when she did he gave her his best trill. She looked at him, but he could tell she had reservations. Sure enough, she went inside without inviting him in.
The next morning he made an appearance again, but that time he knew he had to give her more than just a meow. He went and took all the bones he had collected and put them on her welcome mat during the day, and when she came home that night there was a pile of bones and him sitting next to them. She took him inside that night, and gave him his first name ever. Bones was what he gave her, so Bones was what she called him.
Since his adopting of Becca, Bones has acquired a house-mate in the little black and white Chihuahua named Cinder. Though he's fond of her, he makes sure she knows that Becca is still his human. She's content to let Bones boss her around, as she knows the cat means well.
Bones's other companion is a tomcat named Merlin. They often team up to go on scavenger searches and hunting parties, and Bones always let's Merlin have some of his food and sleep on the screened in porch when the weather is foul. Becca isn't sure if Merlin belongs to someone or not, but she treats him just as kindly as she does Bones.
With Becca's job at the Lucky Pug Cafe, Bones can come in to work with her and so he has a few friends from there as well. Boss pug Houston and his house-mates Vespa and Evette often are part of his workplace scavenger hunts. Becca's made a friend with Anthony which is all right by Bones because he thinks that Anthony's Iggie Tino is one fine gentleman. He tells himself he'd trade Tino for Cinder any day but secretly he'd miss the little chihuahua if she wasn't part of his life anymore.

Tuesday
Call Name: Tuesday
Show Name: n/a
Gender: queen
Birth Date: 11-19-2007
Altered: no
Breed: moggie
Eye Color: green
Markings: brown tabby with white (bi-color). Her markings are nearly identical to her mom's: A spot on the head broken by a blaze, spot behind her nose, broken spot covering her back and tail, and some small spots on the backs and bottoms of paws.
History: Genotype: AaBBCCDDSsTtbLl
When pregnant with Tuesday in the fall of 2007, Gumshoe sought shelter in the back yard of Lizzy and Mark Spalding. It was there that she had her litter, however she almost died giving birth. In the morning Lizzy found her and rushed her and Tuesday to the vet. Gumshoe and Tuesday were saved, and Shoe was spayed. Both have stayed with Lizzy since.
Shoe never liked Mark, saying "his aura makes my whiskers tingle", but Tuesday liked him a lot, and slept on his running shoes every night. One afternoon Gumshoe found evidence to confirm her intuition and Tuesday was along for the ride. After that things moved quickly and Lizzy was soon back to being a Chevalier and alone in the house with a baby. Tuesday was left confused and feeling displaced. She can't figure out why Mark won't come back. Even though she's full grown now, she still behaves and thinks quite like a kitten, maybe being so ill when she was first born affected her brain. But now that she's overcome her fear of the outdoors, she races around the neighborhood like a maniac. However, there's something niggling at her mind now that she's seen three of her housemates and her human give birth, but she can't quite figure it out yet. She has a lot to think about anymore.
Personality: Bold, daring, should take on some of the qualities of Gumshoes personality (curious, sneaky, gentle, smart, kind, and ruthless when the occasion calls for it.) This character is a lesbian.

Personality: Bold, daring, should take on some of the qualities of Gumshoes personality (curious, sneaky, gentle, smart, kind, and ruthless when the occasion calls for it.) This character is a lesbian.
Gumshoe
Call Name: Gumshoe
Show Name: n/a
Gender: queen
Birth Date: June 2004
Altered: yes
Breed: moggie (longhair)
Eye Color: green
Markings: brown tabby with white (bi-colour). Patches of brown tabby on white. She has a patch on her head, right behind her nose, and a broken one on her back and tail. Several small ones on the back and bottoms of her paws as well.
History: Gumshoe was born on the streets of Mushroom Grove in a snowstorm. They would have frozen to death but for a kind human who took the mother and the litter in when she saw them. They grew up in her house, indoor/outdoor cats, and when they were old enough, some of them were adopted out to caring homes. Gumshoe stayed, but of course once she was weaned her mom didn't want much to do with her, so she took to wandering away from the house for longer and longer periods of time. Eventually she just decided to be on her own. She makes her life on the streets, foraging in trash cans and hunting as she can, and has had several litters of kittens. Unlike most street cats, she minds neither humans nor dogs, and has been known to share food with dogs. When pregnant with Tuesday in the fall of 2007, she sought shelter in the back yard of Lizzy and Mark Spalding. It was there that she had her litter, however she almost died giving birth. In the morning Lizzy found her and rushed her and Tuesday to the vet. Gumshoe and Tuesday were saved, and Shoe was spayed. Both have stayed with Lizzy since.
Shoe never liked Mark, saying "his aura makes my whiskers tingle", and one afternoon she found evidence to confirm her intuition. After that things moved quickly and Lizzy was soon back to being a Chevalier and alone in the house with a baby. But now there's room for Gumshoe to sleep in Lizzy's bed, and she does every night. However there's a certain Frenchman she wishes would visit Lizzy more often, and things aren't so bland in Shoe's own personal life now that a certain tall, gold, and handsome Afghan hound has sauntered on into it.
Personality: intuitive, curious, sneaky, gentle, smart, kind, and ruthless when the occasion calls for it.

Cosette
Call Name: Cosette
Show Name: Furrypaws Castle on a Cloud
Gender: queen
Birth Date: May 6, 2008
Altered: no
Breed: Persian
Eye Color: orange (copper)
Markings: black smoke
History: Sire: GC DM Furrypaws What Would You Do (Klondike; orange-eyed white)
Dam: GC DM Furrypaws Double Your Pleasure (Mismatch; torti smoke)
Born of two Grand Champions of Distinguished Merit Cosette had a bright show career ahead of her. The breeders decided to keep her and sell her siblings, and her future looked secure and bright.
One day when Cosette was three months old the cattery owner's nieces were visiting, and Cosette was entranced, following them around. The children were not used to having cats around, let alone cats that were show quality. One of the girls did not watch as she shut a door behind her, and shut Cosette's tail in the door.
Cosette, obviously, freaked out and yanked her tail out of the door before anyone could open it and free her safely. Because of this her tail was broken. But the breeders didn't blame the nieces and did all they could to make them feel better. "Sometimes things just happen," they told them. When they'd left later that day, they took Cosette to the vet to discover the break.
Despite treatment her vertebrae healed askew. Though there was no lasting nerve damage, her show days would be over before they even started because of the kink in her tail. They deliberated for a while before calling Mike Rauling. He'd been on the waiting list for some time, and though there were those ahead of him, they all wanted cats they could show. They asked Mike if he'd mind a cat that couldn't show, and he said he had no problem with it since he'd just had two litters of puppies and had a lot to deal with.
Relieved that Cosette would have a good home, the cattery owners and Mike set a day and Mike drove up to Memphis and picked her up. Cosette fit into his household immediately. Cosette was used to a busy household and it didn't take her long to figure out that the cockers were being bred in a kennel situation just like the cats were where she came from. She loved playing with the puppies and with Crumpet, liked to curl up and nap with Betty, bonded closely with Palo almost instantly, and figured out that the best place to sleep was on Mike's bed.
When Mike, with the help of Jack, started to renovate the house to turn into the Laughing Cocker Inn, Cosette came over every day with Palo and "helped" them out. There were so many delightful things to play with, though she often got scolded for playing with them.
Then, when the Inn was almost ready, she discovered that Mike had built her her own bed, litterbox, and toybox. She correctly deduced that she would be staying here quite often. It's the perfect match for her, as she has way too much personality to be merely a show cat. All together, everything looks good to her. Sometimes, things just happen.
Personality: playful, curious, friendly, excitable, charming, demure
Show Name: Furrypaws Castle on a Cloud

Sky
Show Name: No official one, her mother called her Autumn Snow's Surprise
Call Name: Sky
Age: October 6, 2002
Gender: queen
Altered: yes
Breed: Half-Burmese
Eye color: Light yellow-green
Markings: Tortoiseshell mink with white (bi-colour)
History: Sky was born to a Grand Champion Burmese queen of Distinguished Merit title and a bicolour red tomcat of Siamese heritage. The litter was given away to good homes at the age of four months. When Sky was only six months old, her family had decided to move, and she found herself lost. Having no collar and not micro-chipped she ended up at the shelter where Jack came by and adopted her for his late wife Malie. Though she is very happy and comfortable with Jack and the dogs the move to Mushroom Grove left her slightly haunted. Not liking change to begin with, the memories of her terrifying (to her) ordeal being brought up made her more wary than she'd usually be and found it hard to adjust.
After time had gone by, and through the help of the black tomcat Thirteen, Sky slowly adjusted. She doesn't mind having Honeybee, Change, and Sweet Pea around, and even the newest addition Whirlwind didn't affect her equilibrium. She is actually happy that so much life is back in Jack's home. No matter the temperature outside, she always takes time in the morning to sleep in the sun on the front stoop. The rest of her days are spent watching the cockers frolic, sitting with Jack while he reads, sleeping in sunspots on the floor, and spending time with Thirteen on hunting trips.
Personality: The Burmese is very strong in her and so she is quite shy and playful but also devoted to one person -- Jack. However the barn cat wins out when you get past her shyness, she is feisty and has a deep-seated pride instinct and therefore "takes care of her own".
